Cherry on Top

Weekly Photo Challenge: Cherry On Top

Concept: This week, share an image of a finishing touch from your own life. Maybe it’s a photo of the blooming rose bush that’s the centerpiece of your garden, or a shot of the sunset that was a perfect end to a wonderful day. Perhaps it’s a snapshot of the glowing grin on your daughter’s face after she achieves a longed-for goal, or a picture of the statue on top of a beautiful old building in your city.

This one is easy, there have been many occasions that someone has been the cherry on top in my life, and this photo represents one such occasion that is very special to me:

It was over a year ago now. My husband had just come out of hospital and because of this was not well enough to attend a fundraising day that his workmates (too many to mention but they all know who they are) had organised in his honour. They were all shaving their heads and beards (those who had beards – one whose grown up son had never seen him without one). Along with this big hearted group of men, three girls who cared about my husband very much were brave enough to shave their heads too. Belinda – a work mate, Kim a close family friend and Deb, my sister. Each had shoulder length to long hair. They all amazed us, the girls hadn’t told us they were participating.

I have to say with this story in mind and many others involving our family and friends, it is friends and family who are….

the Cherry on Top of life!

The feature photo is of my beautiful sister and my husband getting together for the first time after the shave! It was taken by me on my iphone. It’s a favorite of mine. The photo below (of Deb and her hubby Andy) shows Deb’s hair length pre-shave, yep family and friends are the cherry on top!
