Daily Prompt: Volunteer

a personal observation…

The support she offered came from a place of true knowing. She was gentle, unobtrusive yet attentive. She was there for anyone who needed her. She offered the kind of comfort only those who had walked this path could. Fluffing a pillow here, offering a caring gesture there. She was constantly tidying piles of scattered magazines or bringing those who waited – an ice cold cup of water or a soothing mug of tea. She knew just what to do.

When her shift was done there would be another kind face to take her place. These earth angels were the husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, sons and daughter, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles of patients past. Some had most likely been past patients; all were giving their time to benefit others, as others had done for them in their own time of need.



I find writing to be a great escape from the busyness of life, which is why I enjoy playing with flash
